Harm reduction is the single most effective approach to drug and alcohol problems because harm reduction uses pragmatic, evidence-based strategies that work. This book is the first comprehensive compilation of harm reduction strategies aimed specifically at people who drink alcohol. Whether your goal is safer drinking, reduced drinking, or quitting alcohol altogether, this is the book for you. It contains a large and detailed selection of harm reduction tools and strategies which you can choose from to build your own individualized alcohol harm reduction program. There are many practical exercises to help people change their behaviors, including risk-ranking worksheets, drinking charts, goal choice worksheets, and many more. There are also innumerable practical tips from folks who "have been there" and have turned their drinking habits around for the better. This book exemplifies the harm reduction principles of "meeting people where they are at" and encouraging people to change in ways which they choose for themselves. This book can either be used as a self-help manual for people working on their own or by people who are participating in a harm reduction support group. BETTER IS BETTER!!

Commonly question about How to Change Your Drinking: a Harm Reduction Guide to Alcohol (2nd edition) Reviews

Question :

Has anyone ever been to drug therapy / rehab?

Im 19 and indo smoke and stuff. Pills, drink a little. But i do educate myself in the drug thoroughly before ever trying a new substance. i try to take it with most harm reduction and safely as possible.

Long story short she found out and sending me to addiction therapy. I dont think i need it, im really fine i go months and weeks without doing anything lol. And im really willing to quit. I see no need to send me to therapy -_-

Plus she took my cellphone and car keys, both she pays for, for a month. I am currently seeking a job lol.
But does therapy really help if im not really wanting to change? I plan on going along with it but i still plan on using once im out lol.

Opinions? How do these sessions work?? My mom thinks smoking weed is bad for you btw ..
Can anyone relate?
Answer :
Well as a recovering alcoholic and pot smoker, this is how everyone starts out. Being able to "control" there use. But it usually turns out to be an addiction that takes hitting rock bottom before you will admit there is a problem. So it doesnt matter what anyone says, you will have to experience this on your own. You will have your "fun" and possibly lose everything, everyone that you hold so dear. So fake your way through treatment, and go about your using life...

Answer :
Smoking weed is bad for you.
Therapy doesn t help if you don t want to change.
Though I can see why she wants to send you to therapy. Underage alcohol is illegal and so is weed, if it is not prescribed. I doubt it is because of your age.
Have you considered how much damage your body has taken from your actions?
The fact that you go back to the substances, indicated that either you ARE addicted and are unwilling to admit it, or you re just plain reckless.
